Venue Specific - Fort Royal Farm

Terrain & Site

Fort Royale Farm is located at 5575 Bedford Valley Road (US-220), Bedford, Pennsylvania 15522 (Closest cross streets are Calamont Rd to the North and Haywood Rd to the South)

The site is approximately 14 miles southwest of the town of Bedford proper, and approximately 15 miles north/northeast of Interstate 68 in Cumberland, Maryland. Both of these towns have most services available, and the drive to these towns is primarily accessed by well maintained, paved road, US Highway 220, which is the eastern boundary of the property.

The total land the event may use is approximately 1.5 square miles, marked by the white line with small dashes in the image above, but the parts of that which would be regularly accessed by most participants is less than half of that, as much is densely wooded.

The property is primarily accessed at two entry and exit points: for Constellation, the primary entrance is near the red location dot on the map which says “Fort Royale Farm”, and vehicle exit from the parking area is southwest of this, near the point on the image where it says “Tuscarora MIlls”.

Dirt paths with limited to moderate grades provide access to various parts of the land. These paths are maintained by the landowners, and may be dirt, rock or shale covered, or muddy, depending on weather conditions.

Sun Exposure - limited shade or direct sun to approximately 25% of property.
Water exposure: depending on weather conditions water may pool in small, shallow ponds. There are no regular bodies of water accessible to event participants.
The dirt paths will be designated for single-direction traffic by event producers, and Safety volunteers and Parking volunteers. Any change in the direction of traffic MUST be approved by an event Producer or Board on Duty. The ONLY exceptions to this rule are in the event of a life-safety emergency, or by clearly marked government agency fire, EMS, or law enforcement vehicles.
Intentionally driving a motorized vehicle the wrong direction on any signed path, or where participants have been instructed by event volunteers or producers, constitutes grounds for immediate ejection from the event, with no refunds.
Wander / Lost participant risk - wooded areas present a lost participant risk, especially for children wandering from their caregiver(s)/guardian(s). All parents, guardians, and caregivers are responsible for the safe supervision of children or youth in their care.
Surrounding roadways - local roadway traffic, collision risks. The nearest road is RT 220, high speed highway. Participants should take care entering and exiting the event on to this highway.
Nearby waterways and bodies of water may present drowning and other water-based risks; however, none of these are located on the event property, or in any way supervised by or part of the event.
Airports: the nearest airports providing regular commercial air service are in the Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Washington DC metro areas.
Absolutely no aircraft, including Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (“UAV” or “drones”) are permitted to be deployed, operated, or recovered from the event grounds without express permission from the board.
Other mass transit: the nearest Amtrak train stop and greyhound bus stops providing regular service are in Cumberland, Maryland, approximately 18 miles from the event site. There is no regular public transit between Cumberland and the event site.
Tree covered areas create shade, and may present falling branches, falling, and tripping hazards. Potential for interaction with flora & fauna. Long grassy areas also pose potential risks for ticks and other hazards including holes.
Hazards on roads and campsites include partially buried rocks, and tree stumps. Efforts are made to mitigate these hazards, but everyone should carefully watch where they walk.
Elevation: the primary entrance to the event site is at approximately 1,190 feet. Elevation varies throughout the site, to a maximum of approximately 1,350 feet.
    Off Limit Areas:
The home of the landowners near Gate is off limits at all times during the event.
Neighboring homes on the property are also off-limits.
Any locations signed, or visibly blocked off with caution tape, surveyor’s tape, or other barriers, are off limits.
