Standard 5lb ABC fire extinguishers will be placed in Ranger and First Aid carts, and at HQ. A minimum of one staff member will be available via radio at all times to respond to fire emergencies.The fire suppression apparatus will be stationed between the Effigy and HQ when in position for a ceremonial burn, and can also be a resource pending the incident.
Each sanctioned participant-lit ignition source is to be accompanied at all times by either a fully charged fire extinguisher of the appropriate class, or a full 5-gallon container of water. In the event of an unintentional fire, the nearest fire extinguisher will be located by participants or a volunteer and used to extinguish the fire.Once that action has been initiated, the Burning Arts & Response Team team will be contacted.
The Burning Arts & Response Team coordinator will respond directly to the incident to assess the situation and direct arriving Burning Arts & Response Team volunteers. The standby volunteers will bring all available suppression tools to the incident and will be directed by the Burning Arts & Response Team coordinator.If the Burning Arts & Response Team coordinator determines that escalation is required, the Burning Arts & Response Team will make the call or contact BOD to relay the call to the local fire department.All Entry/Gate Operations will cease and an escort will be designated to direct the local fire department to the incident and will wait for their arrival at Gate. Upon arrival, the local fire department will assume command.
